Birel
1967 - 1972
By 1972 the Birel star had waned, Vittorio doing 5 races with a Wainer-tuned Alfa engine and 2 with a Nova; Tino did 5 races with the Alfa version. The chassis was based on a Tecno chassis and used Alpine inspired bodywork. After securing only a single point each the switch to a Brabham chassis was made and the Birel name disappeared from racing history.
1950's -
Birel S.p.A. of Lissone (Milan) started building karts in the late 1950s after many years as a bicycle manufacturer.
They have had numerous world champions over the years including Mike Wilson and Gianluca Beggio, and a book was recently published about them.
With more than forty years of history and racing, ensured the Birel an exceptional 26 race titles. And the victories gained on the race traks the world's most important and most prestigious competitions, are the best guarantee for each product Birel chassis. Even in 2002, Birel is a leader in all major championships.
