Major
Major, founded in 1948 on a draft of the engineer Salvatore Majorca baised in Turin, its aim was very clear: to create a very exceptional piece of art, both stylistically and mechanically.
As for aesthetics, one can agree that all those who look at the Major, that it was way ahead of it time compared to the competition. The study of bike was extraordinarily accurate, the line creates a unique form from which only the handlebars and wheels emerge. And to think that the project was started right after Second World War, one can only imagine the emotion the Mayor aroused at the time of its presentation.
In any case it was not just a well executed exercise in style, as the entire front section effectively sheltered the rider and the body played an important aerodynamic function. The creation of the Majorca was surprising even in the mechanics. The body seemed to conceal the suspension, but in fact these were missing. The floating effect was achieved through special rubber cylinders that were interlaced between the hub and wheel rim. The Mayor was a fascinating project, but it was too expensive to go into production and thus remained a single copy.
