BRM (Officine Meccaniche Ricardo Bellentani) was started by Ricardo Bellentani and his brother and the engineer Vittorio Bellentani. Vittorio, the technical director of the Ferrari motorcycle manufacturer company based in Modena, had developed the block for the 49 cc two-stroke auxiliary motor. There they designed auxiliary engines for bicycles and later, with his brother Ricardo Bellentani, founded the BRM, who build well-made motorcycles and mopeds. Production continued through the subsequent years until 1958 the company closed.
