SVA
1948 - 1951
SVA (Società Valdostana Automobili), was an Italian car manufacturer, active in Pont Saint Martin from 1948 to 1951. Founded by Virgilio Conrero e Giovanni Savonuzzi, both coming from the racing department of Fiat Aviazione (Aviation), the SVA was founded to develop the cars used at Cisitalia racing.
Despite having achieved several victories in minor races and the confidence of important drivers such as Giovanni Bracco, the SVA ran into severe difficulties following the placement into receivership of the Cisitalia and tried new outlet in the creation of open-wheel cars.
A first experiment was done with a Formula 3 car with the engine from 500 cm3 of the Moto Guzzi and later was made a Formula 1 car with 1500 cc engine derived from FIAT, fueled by a mixture of gasoline-alcohol and with supercharger.
The SVA 1500, assigned to driver Rudi Fischer, took to the track in both the Grand Prix of San Remo and the Swiss Grand Prix in 1950, proving to be powerful and fast, but also very fragile.
At the end of 1951, SVA was closed.
