TAU
Tau, founded by Aroldo Triveldi and based in Milan, was an Italian brand built engines for motorcycles.
They initially built air-cooled 125 cc two-stroke rotary engine, designed by engineer Aroldo Trivelli from Milano, with valves that were used mainly in karts. Later he built over the engines so they were suitable for motorcycles.
In 1976 he built the Tau TVR engine with six-speed intended for road racers. Cross block machine were not suitable, so Triveldi developed a new engine. The Tau (Tau Rotary Valve) with six-speed gearbox, three-cylinder transfer ports, of which the third split, and electronic ignition. The engine, mounted on a race motorcycle produced 27 hp at 11000 rpm, could reach 200 km/h.
In 1977 he presented two engines at the Salon of Milan. The young manufacturer Valenti and the existing brand Cabrera selected the Tau engines for their field equipment.
In 1979, a business relationship was connected with some English companies requiring 100 cc engine to use a restrictor, the most interesting innovation was the new 250 cc naturally aspirated two-stroke, which showed good results during testing and was adopted as the new model for the SUV Cabrera. Its power was 38 hp at 8000 rpm.Besides Valenti and Cabrera, Tau also built engines for Ancilotti, JCM and Puma.
TVR proved suitable to be installed on a motocross bike and Trivelli, shall change for a naturally aspirated engine more suited to the terrain. With these two engines, and a version of the engine rotating valve water-cooled with liquid circulation thermosyphon, the Tau Motosalone debuted in Milan in 1977. A young assembler Lombard, Valenti, click the Tau aspirated 125 for its new construction and regular bikes, and a House of Pesaro, to Cabrera, he approve the thruster developed by Trivelli for its models.
