Gaia (Secolari Stabilimenti Meccanici Bertot-Rocca, later Giuseppe Gaia) was founded in 1905 by Giuseppe Gaia as a bicycle manufacturer and in 1922 decided to devote himself to building motorcycles, which at that time had gone out of fashion.
The first bike was built with an auxiliary engine and later Rubinelli 123 cc and 173 cc motorcycles. The 123 had a two stroke while the 173 overhead valve Moser engine. From 1927 there was the 174 cc using a Ladetto & Blatto OHV engine.
The first model was equipped with German Alba engines, a single tilted side valve with 192 cc and a power magnet that was for the timing. Parallelogram fork, two separate gears, a primary and secondary transmission chain; the chain was right by the pedals. He then adopted the two-and four-stroke DKW, Rubinelli, Train, Paqui, GD, MM, Siat, Ladetto & Blatto, Moser, and finally to its construction, which drew a large number of different frames.
The plant closed its doors in 1932.
