Gitan is a historic Italian brand of Lightweight motorcycles.two-strokes built in Italy in the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Models included the Libeccio 125 (1957), Carnaby 50 (1976) and Cross 50 (1973).
From 1951 Gitane built motorcycles and light motorcross bikes with two-and four-stroke engines of 49 - to 198 cc. From 1957 to 1960 production was mainly aimed at mopeds, although light motorcycles were still being made. In 1961, there was a 50 cc scooter.
In the 60s there was little done to further development of the existing models, even though they were continued to be produce.
