1909 - 1948
Della Ferrera is a historic Italian brand of motorcycles founded by Fratelli Della Ferrera in Torino (1909-1948). This Italian factory was functional but not particularly attractive for building built motorcycles, which they were giving 100,000 km warranty but were afraid to give. There were fairly robust 498 -, 598 -, 746 - and 996 cc two cylinders engines and 498 cc and 637 cc one-cylinder engines.
After 1945 the brand tried, while still using a one-cylinder 499-cc, to make another bike but it was not until the old glory. The 499 cc V-twin Della Ferrera wegracer of its time, was the fastest motorcycle in Italy.
1909-42
Founded in Turin by the Della Ferrera brothers, became one of the most important Italian brands. Production was limited, the bikes are built one at a time. The first motorcycle came out in 1909, has a displacement of 330 cc, then brought up to 499 cc. It had overhead valves with hemispherical combustion chamber with inclined valves, suction and discharge of larger diameter. Characteristic of the motor and control system of valves in the head, which used a double-rocker, with each end resting on the stem of a valve. The first twin came in 1913, the cylinders were longitudinal V, with a 500 cc displacement, overhead valves for distribution.
In 1914, they launched a 500 cc single-cylinder, with vertical cylinder, four-valve distribution in the head, gradual change, final drive belt. 1914, is also a year of great success in competitions, however, the outbreak of war slows the rise of the House. The regular production resumed in 1919 with a single cylinder of 636 cc pedal-start, four-speed gearbox, clutch pedal and primary transmission and final two chains. It 'also presented a 1006 cc V-twin with four-speed gearbox, starter pedal. In 1920, built a single cylinder of 636 cc and a twin-cylinder of 803 cc, both with chain drive, four-speed gearbox always engaged. In 1921, are in the list of 637 cc Turismo, Gran Turismo of 1048 cc and 496 cc stroke. In 1923, still a single cylinder of 637 cc and 998 cc V-twin cylinder with 45 °, side valve, gearbox with constant mesh gears. In 1924, presents an auxiliary two stroke engine, 130 cc, with an unusual split cylinder internal distribution of cylinder liners, which converge toward the combustion chamber only form a V upside down. In 1925, still a V-twin, the Sport Luxury, of 1394 cc, with four-speed gearbox, chain transmission and distribution side valve. In 1926, it produced a 500 cc single cylinder with three-speed gearbox, while in 1928 is put at the price of a single cylinder 175 cc engine with vertical distribution overhead valves operated by pushrods and rockers, gearbox and block Three speed, with the lever by hand. In 1932, presents a single-cylinder 350 cc, with the cylinder slightly inclined forward, with the distribution overhead valve and block three-speed gearbox. The House closes its doors in 1942, although according to some sources, the production ceased in 1948.
