The LinTo 500 GP is a motorcycle from contest planned from Stupid Linen and built in small series from the 1967 to the 1970.
The idea of to build a new engine using components Aermacchi had come to Stupid Linen, famous designer for Aermacchi, Benelli, Dukedoms and Movement Guzzi and to Umberto Premoli, president of the Movement Club Varese and former pilot that, in the 1967, decided give body to their ideas to realize a movement from Big Prize.
The solution adopted was that of to use cilindri, made one's will and valves of the Aermacchi 250 Wing d'oro, dotandole of new base and cambio to you be rotten, and maintaining the original diagram of operation with cylinders supported horizontal frontemarcia.
To the telaio in tubes d' steel with double superior cradle, came added the suspensions of the Ceriani and the brakes to drum of the Fountain. The first example of the LinTo 500 GP, still in phase of development, succeeded to distribute 65 HP to 12,000 turns/minute and decided to entrust themselves it to the champion varesino Pagan Alberto that ottenne a second place in the Big Prize of the Germany East and a fourth place in the Big Prize of Italy run.
For the 1969 Premoli decided to build a small series of examples for the private runners, all painted in red, and two official movement, painted in blue, to entrust Pagans and to the pilot Australian Jack Findlay.
The sporty season of quell'anno itself generous dimostrò with the LinTo (Stupid acronimo of Linen), until Pagans succeeded to win the Big Prize of the Nations to Imola and it swiss Gyula Marsovszky gained the second place in the class 500, to the shoulders of Giacomo Agostini and of its MV Agusta. The new zealander Keith Turner vinse the Belgian classic of the Mettet and, in that occasion, the LinTo 500 GP venne timed to the speed of 290 km/h, on average superior of about 30 km/h with respect to the contributing Norton and Matchless.
Although the high speed, the movement showed several lacks of youth that limited of it strong the reliability in competition. First between everything the fragility of the trasmissione, immediately I continue from the strong vibrations that, in some cases, caused crepe in the casing of the engine or the disruption of the chassis.
The further development of the LinTo, however, not limit for the Stupid abandonment of Linen was led to that, to the end of 1969, venne engaged from the Movement Guzzi to replace the historical team manager Giulio Caesar Carcano.
In half of the 1970, Premoli decided to close the project LinTo, also seen the impossibility of to program a feasible development of the engine, in absence of the main designer.
