+
 +
An upgrade that improves the car's handling the package, also called HGTE or Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione, includes a modified set-up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the magneto-rheological shock absorbers when the manettino is at its sportier settings. The ride height has also been lowered, which lowers the car's centre of gravity. The package also includes optimised tyres featuring a compound that offers improved grip. The car's electronics have also changed. The gearbox's shifts are faster in high-performance settings, while new engine software improved accelerator response.
 +
 +
The exhaust silencer was modified to produce more marked and thrilling sound under hard usage whilst still delivering just the right comfort levels at cruising speed. The exterior and interior were upgraded with more carbon fibre components and also includes new 20-inch wheels.

The 599XX is a car designed for track use only and is not street legal, based on 599 GTB. The rev limiter is raised to 9000 rpm, with the engine rated for 730 PS at 9000 rpm. Weight is reduced by cutting the weight of the engine unit components, and use of composites and carbon-fibre body parts, carbon-fibre brake pads. A new gearbox shift strategy is introduced to cut overall gear change time to 60 ms. Aerodynamics were retuned to give more downforce (280 kg at 200&nbsp;km/h, 630 kg at 300&nbsp;km/h). The car also includes 29/67 R19 front and 31/71 R19 rear tires with 19 x 11J wheel rims at the front and 19 x 12J at the rear.

On 8 April 2010, Ferrari announced official details of the 599 GTO. The car is a road-going version of the 599XX and Ferrari say the 599 GTO is their fastest road car ever, able to lap the Fiorano test circuit in 1 minute 24 seconds, one second faster than the Ferrari Enzo. Its engine produces 670 PS at 8250 rpm, with 620 Nm of torque at 6500 rpm. Ferrari claims the 599 GTO can reach 100 km/h in under 3.35 seconds and has a top speed of over 335 km/h. At 1590 kg, the 599 GTO weighs 100 kg less than the standard GTB. Production will be limited to 599 cars.

The convertible version of the 599, the SA APERTA, will be introduced 2010 Paris Motor Show as a unique one off collection in honor of designers Sergio Pininfarina and Andrea Pininfarina. Only 80 examples will released.
 +
 +
Ferrari is delighted to announce the presentation of the SA APERTA at the Paris International Motor Show 2010. This is a special series model of which a strictly limited number of just 80 will be built. All have already been sold. Ferrari chose to build 80 SA APERTAs in celebration of Pininfarina's 80th anniversary. The SA nomenclature also pays homage to both Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina whose company and work have been linked to the most successful road-going cars ever built at Maranello.
 +
 +
The SA APERTA is a true roadster which allows its occupants to enjoy the superlative emotions afforded by our signature front-engined V12 architecture in a completely open-top setting. In fact, it has just a light soft top designed to be resorted to only if the weather gets particularly bad. A low-slung windscreen and the fact that it crouches lower to the ground than our other models lend the SA APERTA an exceptionally aerodynamic sleekness. Its profile arches back from the A-post to two aerodynamic fins beautifully integrating the two roll-bars which themselves cleverly mimic the outline of the seats.
 +
 +
The chassis has been redesigned to deliver a standard of stiffness comparable to that of a closed berlinetta and there is a negligible weight difference also, thanks to work done on the chassis structure.
 +
 +
Thanks to the 670 CV engine beneath its bonnet, the SA APERTA beautifully embodies the sporty spirit of the 599, incorporating Ferrari's most advanced technology to deliver absolutely benchmark performance and superb driving pleasure. Its interior too is stylishly sporty with particularly sophisticated materials, trim and colours used throughout. The virtually endless combinations available guarantee that each and every SA APERTA is absolutely unique.

When Ferrari officially take the wraps off their 599 GTB at the Geneva Motor Show on the 28th February, they will be unveiling their most intoxicating V12-engined production car of all time.
 +
 +
The new 2-seater ‘Gran Turismo Berlinetta’ model, which will replace the 575M Maranello when it goes on sale later this year, was officially announced by Amedeo Felisa, Ferrari’s Vice General Manager, at the opening of the Detroit Motor Show on the 9th January. The first official pictures were distributed early on by Ferrari, along with the first official details, during the North American International Auto Show in Detroit earlier this month. With ground-breaking engineering and design, the 599 GTB is the result of Ferrari’s most innovative and technologically advanced engineering solutions applied to a front engined, two-seater berlinetta. The result promises to be a benchmark in handling, performance and design.
 +
 +
Class-leading power is generated by the latest incarnation of the F140 and F133F V12 engines used in the Ferrari Enzo and 612 Scaglietti. Whereas the 612 is anything but modest in its claim to a 6.0-litre engine (capacity is only 5,748 cc), the 599 GTB has a 1 cc greater capacity over the Enzo’s 5,998 cc. Maximum power is no less than 611 bhp achieved at 7,600 rpm, resulting in a weight to power ratio of 2.6 kg per horsepower. This power means an increase of 103 bhp over the 575M Maranello and 78 bhp over the 612 Scaglietti. Both the 575M Maranello and 612 Scaglietti produce an equal 588 Nm at 5,250 rpm, however the 599 GTB delivers 623 Nm within a more usable rev range between 2,000 and 6,000 rpm.
 +

 +
Mated to a seven-speed F1 sequential gearbox, the 599 GTB has an estimated 0-100 km/h time of 3.7 seconds, compared to the 4.2 seconds achieved by both the 575M Maranello and 612 Scaglietti. The new time is equal to that of the upcoming Porsche 997 Turbo which is also scheduled for a launch at Geneva. In order to achieve this speed, the first four gear ratios have been kept relatively short, which means that the 599 GTB will be a much lither track car. Top speed is in excess of 340 km/h, whereas the car also features the Formula 1 inspired E-Diff electronic differential. Stopping power is taken care of by Brembo CCM composite ceramic disc brakes.
 +
 +
The body and chassis construction applies Ferrari and Alcoa’s latest evolution in aluminium technology, first put into practise on the successful Ferrari 360 Modena. The extruded aluminium spaceframe architecture is in fact a shortened version of that used on the 612 Scaglietti. Cast, extruded and fabricated components will be produced in Hungary, Germany and the Netherlands prior to shipment to Modena, where they will be assembled into the finished spaceframe at an Alcoa facility inside the Ferrari Scaglietti bodyshop facility.
 +
 +
With significantly shorter doors than those on the 612 Scaglietti, the 599 GTB’s wheelbase has been brought down to 2,794 mm, whilst the width remains close to that of its sister 2+2. The new berlinetta’s weight of 1,612 kg is a fundamental improvement over the 1,730 kg of its Maranello predecessor. Despite this, the new car will feature significantly improved interior space and luggage capacity over its forerunner.
 +
 +
With the V12 engine now tucked even further behind the front axle line, the Ferrari 599 GTB gives a front to rear weight ratio of 45:55 which is the closest yet to the ideal setup for a front-engined RWD car.

Ferrari 599 GTB
 +
Ferrari V12 berlinetta history
 +
 +
The all new Ferrari 599 GTB builds on Ferrari's foremost production car bloodline: the V12 Berlinetta. It replaces the 575M Maranello when it goes on sale later this year.
 +

 +
Lighter, more powerful and better balanced than any previous front engined Ferrari, the 599 GTB is set to become a benchmark in performance and handling. The 5,998 cc V12 engine is mounted far back to provide a formidable 45:55 front to rear weight ratio.
 +
 +
 +
The 599 GTB will feature a standard wheel size of 19 inches, as on the F430, instead of the 18-inch variety delivered on the 575M Maranello and 612 Scaglietti. Tyres measure 245/40ZR19 at the front and 305/35ZR19 at the rear.
 +
 +
From the exterior, the unmistakable Pininfarina silhouette provides an aggressive yet elegant line, perfectly integrating advanced aerodynamic solutions in order to achieve the benchmark performance figures attained. The front is a sportier interpretation of the 612 Scaglietti look, with a pronounced Formula 1 inspired nose section flanked by purposeful air outlets. More outlets are positioned on the flanks, and extra inlets for rear brake cooling are positioned behind the doors.
 +
 +
Notable aerodynamic details include the welcome return of flying buttresses at the rear, last seen on a Ferrari berlinetta with the F355 (the Superamerica reintroduced these last year). These carbon fibre buttresses sit over the wraparound rear window, improving airflow in the process, whilst also hinting at the future 599 GTS model which is set to arrive one year after the berlinetta’s official presentation. The Spider is expected to feature the Revochromico roof introduced on the Superamerica. A remarkable deviation from Ferrari’s recent quad tail-light theme, are the large singular rear units. This style was last seen on the 275 GTB model. Traditional quad tailpipes feature, with lipped tips, along with a carbon fibre diffuser which hints at the cars aerodynamic underbody. A subtle integrated rear spoiler finishes off the design. The final approval of the 599 GTB was given last spring by former Ferrari-Maserati head of GT styling Frank Stevenson, now working on a host of new models for Fiat and Lancia.
 +

 +
Inside, the 2-seater berlinetta features a Formula 1 style steering wheel with LED rev display, along with the ‘manettino’ switch on the bottom right and the engine start/stop button on the bottom left. The choice of yellow, red and black graphics for the tachometer will be available, whereas aluminium and glossy carbon fibre detailing feature. The 599 GTB's central console will be marked with an aluminium plate embossed with the Ferrari script, whereas a luggage compartment for custom-made Ferrari travelling cases, complete with a leather strap, is packaged behind the seats.
 +
 +
The Ferrari 599 GTB is the latest symbol of Ferrari’s legend as a producer of the finest V12 berlinettas. The newcomer represents the most recent evolution of a theme that started with the 1948 166 Inter, and has included memorable classics such as the 250 GT, the 275 GTB and the 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ models. Set to replace the successful 575M Maranello model, the 599 GTB has a tough task to follow. Combined together with the 550 Maranello, introduced in 1996, the 575M Maranello has held a record V12 production output of 5,700 units. The price of the Ferrari 599 GTB is anticipated to be around €195,000 ($240,000) when it goes on sale in late summer. [Powered by <small>Source</small>

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (internal code F139) is Ferrari's 2-seat Gran Turismo flagship model, replacing the 575 M Maranello in 2006 as a 2007 model. The 599 GTB debuted at the Geneva Motor Show on February 28, 2006. Styling of the 599 GTB was handled by Pininfarina, under the direction of Ferrari stylist, Frank Stephenson. It is named for its total engine displacement (5999 cc), Gran Turismo Berlinetta nature, and the Fiorano Circuit test track used by Ferrari.

Engine

The 599's Enzo-sourced Tipo F133F 6.0 L (5999 cc) V12 engine produces a maximum 620 CV (620 hp/456 kW/611 bhp), making it the most-powerful series production Ferrari road car. Its 448 ft·lbf (608 N·m) of torque will also be a high for Ferrari's GT cars. Most of the modifications to the engine were done to allow it to fit in the Fiorano's engine bay (the original Enzo version could be taller since the mid-mounted position allowed it to be so). The company claims a top speed in excess of 330 km/h (205 mph), 3.7 second sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph), and 11.0 to 200 km/h (124 mph).

A traditional 6-speed manual transmission as well as Ferrari's 6-speed sequential manual gearbox called 'F1 SuperFast' will be offered. The e-diff active differential from the F430 will not be used. However, the Manettino concept first seen in the F430 will also appear in this car. Ferrari will reportedly source the Delphi Corporation's MagneRide semi-active magneto rheological dampers. Reviewers of the car have mentioned that the MagneRide suspension gives the 599 a very comfortable ride but allows it to handle well at the same time.

The Fiorano will also see the debut of Ferrari's new traction control system, called F1-Trac. Reportedly tuned using inputs from 7-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher, the system will supposedly allow a competent driver to lap the Fiorano test track at just 1 second behind Michael's time.

Handling GT Evoluzione package

Ferrari 599 HGTE

An upgrade that improves the car's handling the package, also called HGTE or Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione, includes a modified set-up with stiffer springs and rear anti-roll bar as well as new calibration settings for the magneto-rheological shock absorbers when the manettino is at its sportier settings. The ride height has also been lowered, which lowers the car's centre of gravity. The package also includes optimised tyres featuring a compound that offers improved grip. The car's electronics have also changed. The gearbox's shifts are faster in high-performance settings, while new engine software improved accelerator response.

Aerodynamics were retuned to give more downforce (280 kg at 200 km/h, 630 kg at 300 km/h). The car also includes 29/67 R19 front and 31/71 R19 rear tires with 19 x 11J wheel rims at the front and 19 x 12J at the rear.

The car was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show.

Ferrari announced at the 2010 Beijing International Auto Show that the 599XX had completed the Nordschleife circuit at the Nürburgring in a time of 6 minutes and 58.16 seconds - the second fastest time ever recorded for a production-derived sports car.

599 GTO

Ferrari has given only two other models the GTO designation: the 1962 250 GTO and the 1984 288 GTO.

SA APERTA

Ferrari 599 SA Aperta

The convertible version of the 599, the SA APERTA, will be introduced 2010 Paris Motor Show as a unique one off collection in honor of designers Sergio Pininfarina and Andrea Pininfarina. Only 80 examples will released.

The chassis has been redesigned to deliver a standard of stiffness comparable to that of a closed berlinetta and there is a negligible weight difference also, thanks to work done on the chassis structure.

The first publicly recorded crash of a 599 GTB occurred when Car and Driver writer Aaron Robinson crashed one into the retaining wall of the Passo della Cisa in Italy, a few meters from a monument to Enzo Ferrari (for his finishing fourth in a 1919 hill climb on that same road). The car suffered only minor damage to the front right fender, and Robinson and photographer Mike Valente were able to drive it back to the factory.

Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has also crashed his 599 GTB in November 2007.[1]

To market the 599 GTB in the Americas, Ferrari embarked on a 20000mi trek from Brazil to New York in two cars. The two cars drove through 16 countries and had minimal (mainly suspension) changes made to the mechanicals.miles-in-a-pair-of-ferraris/

Evo Magazine named the 599 GTB as the Car of the Year for 2006 despite strong competition from rivals Porsche and Lamborghini and other high-performance cars. The Stuttgart marque has been an eCOTY favorite winning in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2003, and 2004. Even with the release of the brilliant 911 Turbo (997), it was denied from the list because the 911 GT3 (997) was considered more impressive. Notably, previous GT3s have won the eCOTY in '99 and '03, making the current car a fierce contender for the title. The Porsche came in second with 94.8 points just behind the 599 with 95.4 points. Lamborghini came in third with the redesigned and more powerful Murciélago LP640 garnering 93.4 points. The three supercar marques were clear front-runners with a wide gap ahead of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (89.6), Lotus Elise S (89.3), Jaguar XKR (87.0), Renaultsport Mégane (86.2), Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG (85.4) and Aston Martin DB9 Sports Pack (84.4).

Top Gear Magazine also named the 599 GTB as the Supercar of the Year 2006. However, the Jaguar XK was named overall Car of the Year chosen from the winners of several categories.

Although Ferrari estimated a 0–60 mph time of 3.7 seconds, tests have achieved a better time. During a track test, Evo Magazine achieved a time of 3.5 seconds and lapped the Bedford Autodrome in 1.23.10, making it faster than the Ascari KZ1, the Porsche 997 Turbo and 996 GT3 RS, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo '04, and the Corvette Z06. However, it was still slower than the Gallardo SE ('06) and three other hypercars. Motor Trend timed an even better 0–60 mph time of 3.2 seconds with a Ferrari test driver.

Road & Track also timed the 0–60 mph time at 3.2 seconds in a road test which appeared in the May 2007 issue [2].

Autocar UK had a comprehensive 599 GTB review which appeared in the May 16, 2007 issue [3].

The 599 GTB is also the first Ferrari ever to come with an iPod connection as standard [4].

The 599 GTB manufacturing process and the Maranello plant were featured on National Geographic Channel's series Ultimate Factories in 2006.

At E3 2006, Polophony Digital, creators of the popular "Gran Turismo" franchise for the "Playstation" video game systems announced that the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano will be a new addition to the "Gran Turismo HD" game for the PS3, making it the first Ferrari in "Gran Turismo" series history.

Ferrari 599 GTB

When Ferrari officially take the wraps off their 599 GTB at the Geneva Motor Show on the 28th February, they will be unveiling their most intoxicating V12-engined production car of all time.

With the V12 engine now tucked even further behind the front axle line, the Ferrari 599 GTB gives a front to rear weight ratio of 45:55 which is the closest yet to the ideal setup for a front-engined RWD car.

Ferrari 599 GTB Ferrari V12 berlinetta history

The all new Ferrari 599 GTB builds on Ferrari's foremost production car bloodline: the V12 Berlinetta. It replaces the 575M Maranello when it goes on sale later this year.

Lighter, more powerful and better balanced than any previous front engined Ferrari, the 599 GTB is set to become a benchmark in performance and handling. The 5,998 cc V12 engine is mounted far back to provide a formidable 45:55 front to rear weight ratio.

The 599 GTB will feature a standard wheel size of 19 inches, as on the F430, instead of the 18-inch variety delivered on the 575M Maranello and 612 Scaglietti. Tyres measure 245/40ZR19 at the front and 305/35ZR19 at the rear.

[Powered by Source
