Alfa Romeo Giulia
The Alfa Romeo Giulia is an Alfa Romeo automobile. It is the real Mother of All GTI's. Alfa was the first to put a powerful engine in a light-weight car for mainstream production. The Giulia weighed about 1.000 kg or 2200 pounds. The car was equipped with a 1.6-liter, 100 bhp (75 kW) engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. This made for a top speed of 170 km/h (106 mph) back in the late 1960s and early 1970s. 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) took about 12 seconds.
The styling was quite straight forward, but with a great amount of details. The engine bay, cabin and boot were all square shaped. But the grill, the rooflines and details on the bonnet and boot made for an integrated design from bumper to bumper. It was also a car with an unusually-low drag coefficient. For example, the drag on a Giulia was lower than the drag on a Porsche 911 from the same period.
