1940's -
The car was a 1949 Sighinolfi 1100 Sport built by Sergio Sighinolfi, a race car driver. It has a Fiat 1100 S engine with it’s own tube frame chassis and aluminum body. The naming of some of the 1950's low-volume Italian cars is always tricky. They largely used Fiat components and sometimes were described as Fiats and sometimes named for their creators, i.e. the person who had a chassis made by one specialist, the body by another, the Fiat-based engine developed by another, etc. It is suspected that retaining the Fiat name may have been for taxation purposes.
