Macedonia is a name for salad in some countries. In Italy, Spain and Latin America it is a name for a fruit salad made from fresh fruits and it is a common dessert in those countries. In France, it is a name for a vegetable salad made from, among other vegetables, red beans. The word comes from the French macédoine and is conjectured to allude to the diverse origin of the peoples of Macedonia.
