Fiat Marea

The Fiat Marea is a sedan-type automobile, based on the Brava/Bravo hatchback platform. The Weekend variant made the Marea available in estate form. It was produced from 1997 to 2002. Its 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol and 1.9 turbo-diesel engines were sourced from the Brava and Bravo. Production ceased in 2002 but its successor, the Croma, did not arrive until 2005.

The 2.4 Litre HLX variant has a modified front bumper due to the fact that it had to be made bigger to accommodate the larger engine. Reliability doesn't appear to be an issue with Mareas. All models were galvanised to prevent rust.

In Brazil the Marea received a first facelift in 2001, focused on the rear. The solution was simple; the brazilian version adapted the rear design of a Lancia Lybra. Now, in 2005, the brazilian version received a second facelift: a mild change at the rear and a new front grille similar to other models of Fiat. The engines are 1.6 16 valve, 1.8 16 valve, 2.0 turbo 20 valve and 2.4 20 valve.
